Getting Reacquainted with Ankara

Settling in has been easy because I knew where I would be staying, but was surprised at how lovely the room was. Mandy had removed one of the twin beds and the desk so that I would have more room. And, she had kindly met my request, that of a chair and lamp for reading. I actually have 2 chairs! So we can chat sometimes by the window. And, the floor has been covered with the navy, mauve, taupe and tan carpet which we looked at before I left. It's very soft and the colors are lovely. (As you can imagine, this is an excellent country for carpets!)

Jackson is a joy, hungry all the time, and very expressive. We all get a kick out of his expressions. He's easy to put to bed and enjoys his room very much. David made 10 pictures for his wall - Texas Longhorn, butterfly, caterpillar, dragon, their 2 cats, and a couple more... all with the names of the subject drawn. Very cute. And, of course, there's the wall hanging, and the blessing quilt, his stuffed animals, and he LOVES the giraffe that plays music (Cameron used it when he was a baby, and then Annalisse, and now Jackson!).

The weather is beautiful, we take a walk each day if the scheduling works out. Since I left in early May, a mall has opened within walking distance, a dangerous situation. But, along with the fluff (that would be clothing, shoes, baby stuff, and all things one should avoid if possible) there is a good grocery store. So, this is a plus.

Must check to see if Jackson has soothed himself to sleep. He's quite a pro at it, making bedtime pleasurable.

We will be going to the July 4th celebration at the embassy this weekend, and also looking at our first church/worship option. It will be an interesting weekend for us!

Mom,
I am so glad you have this blog. So pleased to hear everything is working out. Jackson sounds like a joy to care for and love. I can't wait to read more...
